Moss takes to social media to tweet a farewell to 49ers.
The San Francisco 49ers are expected to split with Randy Moss ahead of the new season, after the legendary receiver took to Twitter to bid farewell.
Moss is due to become a free agent on March 12, but in a career spanning 14 years he has become widely recognised as one of the most explosive receivers in the history of the game.
However, coming off the back of a disappointing season last year where he failed to significantly contribute in the 49ers’ run to the Super Bowl, it appears his time in San Francisco may be coming to an end.
“Wished we could’ve finished the job!! Thanks for the opportunity and good luck in the future 9ers,” Moss tweeted on his official personal Twitter account.
Moss publicly revealed earlier this year that he was unhappy with his role with the 49ers, and felt as thought he was being under-used.
However, his future remains uncertain now with the possibility of retirement not being ruled out. Moss will believe that he can still offer something, and certainly has the history in the game to back his argument.
Moss is in the Top 10 in NFL history in receptions, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns. However, it looks as though he won’t be adding to his impressive stats with San Francisco next season.
