The Monaco boss expects an overhaul of his squad in the transfer market.
AS Monaco manager Claudio Ranieri has revealed that he expects Radamel Falcao and no less than ‘four or five top players’ to be coming into his Ligue 1 squad this summer.
Super-rich Monaco earned promotion back to the top flight this season but a relegation scrap is far from their minds for 2013/14, as billionaire Russian owner Dmitry Rybololev intends to give Ranieri a huge transfer kitty.
Several world-class names from European football have been linked with the Principality club and their Italian boss has not been shy about their intentions in the transfer market.
“It is difficult to say how many top players will come. I think about four or five top players. Falcao, Moutinho, Tevez,” Ranieri told French website Le 10 Sport.
“We are expecting the arrival of Falcao plus the other four or five players,”
Speculation surrounding the Atletico Madrid striker’s future has been rife, with Chelsea and Manchester City also reportedly interest in the Colombian.
However, it is apparent Ranieri is confident Falcao will be a Monaco player next season and securing the 27-year-old would be a marquee signing that would convince other top stars to make the move to Ligue 1.
FC Porto duo Joao Moutinho and James Rodriguez are another two big names expected to arrive at the Monegasque club in the coming weeks, whilst a suspected overhaul at Man City could also see Carlos Tevez depart Eastlands for the Mediterranean coastline.
It seems that along with Paris Saint-Germain, Monaco are going to be another flying the flag in a dominant era of French football.
