Central midfield
Nemanja Matic – 8/10
Returned to the Bridge in January after a two-and-a-half year absence with Benfica and immediately proved to be worth every penny of the £20.75m spent on him and is arguably the finest defensive midfielder in European football.
John Obi Mikel – 5/10
Is now on the fringe of the squad and is one of the players who could well be sold this summer, but if not the Nigeria international is unlikely to be in the starting XI that often.
Ramires – 6/10
Consistent and versatile, the Brazilian is a great squad player and can do a job in central midfield or on the right flank and will be called upon often by Mourinho.
Oriol Romeu – 4/10
Back at the club, but for how long is unknown as the Spaniard spent the last campaign with Valencia, although the manager does seem to rate the 22-year-old.
Marco van Ginkel – 4/10
During his first season in West London the Dutchman was cruelly struck down with a cruciate ligament injury and the 21-year-old still has much to prove.
