4. Real Madrid 4-1 Atletico Madrid (AET) (2014)
Atletico had surprised everybody in Spain to win the La Liga title the week before and looked on course to complete an unbelievable double when they led 1-0 going into stoppage time.
However, Sergio Ramos rescued Real in the 93rd minute, and Gareth Bale, Marcelo and Ronaldo all scored in stoppage time to secure Los Blancos ‘La Decima’ after a feisty affair with their capital rivals.
3. Bayern Munich 1-1 Chelsea (Chelsea won 4–3 on penalties) (2012)
The angels were looking down on Chelsea as they scratched and clawed their way to the 2012 final under Roberto Di Matteo, who only took over from Andre Villas-Boas in March. They somehow beat Barcelona in the last four, but not many gave them a chance against Bayern.
Thomas Muller’s 82nd-minute goal appeared to have won it for Bayern, but Drogba’s bullet header sent the game to a shootout in which the Ivorian scored the winning penalty on his last appearance of his first Blues spell, making up for his and Chelsea’s heartbreak of four years previously.
