Sacking Tony Pulis and bringing in Hughes last summer hardly seemed like an inspired choice by Stoke and yet it has paid dividends.
After failing at QPR the Welshman’s reputation was low, but a new attractive style of play that has brought results has reminded everyone how good the former Red Devil can be.
The Potteries are currently 10th in the table with 40 points and not only will they avoid the drop but could also remain in the top half.
