With Eden Hazard picking up the PFA Player of the Season award, he has highlighted once again how big a part midfielders have played in shaping the Premier League season. 19. Esteban Cambiasso – Leicester City
Veteran Argentine Cambiasso has been an absolute coup for the Foxes, and his ability to hold off opposition attacks and quickly turn the tide into counter attacks has made Nigel Pearson’s men dangerous, especially over the past four weeks.
18. James McCarthy – Everton
With Gareth Barry on his last legs, and the hype over Ross Barkley looking as though it was a big noise over very little, McCarthy has been establishing himself as an accomplished all-rounder.
17. Marouane Fellaini – Manchester United
Playing a key part in back-to-back victories over Tottenham and Liverpool, further continuing his metamorphosis under Louis Van Gaal back into one of the Premier League’s most feared midfielders.
16. Charlie Adam – Stoke City
Adam has got his shooting boots on this month, popping off an astonishing 15 attempts in his previous five appearances. Bagging goals against Southampton and Sunderland, there was only one that really mattered – that long range effort against Chelsea from the halfway line.
