Following the unveiling of the shortlist for this year’s PFA Player of the Year, we got our thinking caps on to figure out just who is the most worthy winner. It’s a solid list, and picking a player to collect the honour isn’t easy, but we think the list below accurately reflects the most worthy winner.

6. Philippe Coutinho – Liverpool
The Brazilian playmaker may have kicked it up a notch this season, but the bottom line is that he hasn’t done enough to earn the top prize. The Reds could still end the season empty handed and despite becoming more influential in a floating role, bagging six goals and four assists across all competitions, his output just hasn’t earned him the credits to see him to the top.
