Central midfield
Mikel Arteta – 5/10
Although one of the most consistent midfield players in the league over the best part of the past decade, in a new defensive role the 32-year-old has looked a little lost and a liability at times.
Abou Diaby – 4/10
Due to the Frenchman’s constant injury concerns if difficult to determine how influential Diaby could be, although he’s likely to be extremely rusty.
Mathieu Flamini – 6/10
A solid enough player to call upon and someone who is useful as part of the squad, but Flamini is never going to be a regular in the XI.
Aaron Ramsey – 8/10
Proved last season that he can be the box-to-box midfielder that excites the fans and can change results single-handedly and if the Welshman can stay fit is likely to do the same this time around.
Jack Wilshere – 6/10
For all the promise that came with the England international when he first broke into the team, now aged 22-years-old progression has been slow, but the talent is certainly there.
