Nigerian striker to stay in India
Ranti Martins has announced he will stay in India for another season despite his club’s financial issues.
The club are yet to find a sponsor and haven’t yet paid any of their players. the club began their pre-season preparations recently and despite the money woes Martins feels his side are in good shape.
According to the Goal India Speaking to the Times of India Martins said: ” Yes, I will be staying with United SC this season. I know there are some problems, but in life, there are good times and there are tough times.
“It would not be right to leave the club at this juncture. (Club director) Siddhartha (Bhattacharya) and other officials are very committed and have given me an assurance. Moreover, the coach (Eelco Schattorie) and other senior players are also staying.”
“I am hopeful that things will get better very soon.”
The striker who was awarded ‘best forward’ and ‘best player’ in last seasons campaign is confident of his sides success this season.
“We have started our pre-season preparations a bit late but I’m still quite confident that we’ll be able to do well. We have to work hard.”
