McDonald was arrested earlier today for allegedly attacking a woman who was holding a baby while at his home in Santa Clara, California. NFL.com insider Ian Rapoport obtained the details of the arrest from the Santa Clara Police Department as prepared by Lieutenant Kurt Clark, and the report was fairly shocking.

McDonald had previously been arrested for a domestic violence incident in August 2014, but never charged in court. He was later named as a suspect in a sexual assault allegation in December 2014, though he was never formally accused – but it still led to his release from the San Francisco 49ers. The Chicago Bears later signed McDonald as one of the first big signings of newly-hired Bears GM Ryan Pace – albeit with initial objections from Bears ownership.
In April the NFL cleared McDonald of violating the personal conduct policy. Should McDonald be found guilty of violating the NFL’s rules regarding domestic violence, he would be subject to a six-game suspension with a lifetime ban from the NFL on the table should be commit another offense.
