Cronulla cruise to a 24-point win to put them back in the title hunt.
Cronulla Sharks five-eighth Todd Carney capped an important 48 hours by conducting a masterclass on the field to spearhead his side to a 30-6 victory against the Wests Tigers at Allianz Stadium.
Fresh off signing a massive five-year deal that should see him remain at the Sharks for the rest of his career, Carney inflicted more punishment on the injury-ravaged Tigers.
After Matt Uitai scored for the Tigers in the 11th minute it was all one-way traffic as the Sharks scored 30 unanswered points to see Wests slump to their sixth loss in a row.
The loss ties the longest negative streak for the joint-venture club, who left to the sounds of boos from their disheartened fans.
However, the news could not be better for the Sharks, as they watched their re-signed star construct another win for the side, the first time they have won back-to-back this year.
Carney’s kicking game was on-song and Andrew Fifita was the first to benefit from it, after Tigers youngster Marika Koroibete caught the ball in the field of play before throwing it away when being taken back into the in-goal area.
With the game locked up at 6-all the break, the Sharks went on the attack early in the second half as they scored through Jeff Robson, Jayson Bukuya and Sosaia Feki to see the score blow out to 24-6.
Feki rounded out the rout with his second for the game to seal an important and morale boosting victory for the Sharks.
Wests Tigers youngster Shaun Spence will be monitored during the week after copping a head-knock and leaving the field in the 22nd minute.
