Royals are in the drop zone with just ten games left of the season.
Relegation-threatened Reading are in talks with former Swindon Town head coach Paolo Di Canio about taking over from the recently departed Brian McDermott in the Royals hot seat, according to reports in the Daily Mirror.
McDermott was sacked by Reading’s Russian owner Anton Zingarevich on Monday with the club having lost four matches in a row, and their dreadful run has seen the Royals slip into the relegation zone. Reading sit just one place off the bottom, only separated from last-placed Queens Park Rangers on goals scored at present.
And with Italian Di Canio having been spotted in the crowd at the Madejski during Saturday’s 2-1 Premier League loss to fellow strugglers Aston Villa, it is now expected that the one-time AC Milan, Celtic, Sheffield Wednesday and West Ham United front man could be in charge of the club in time for their trip to face Manchester United on Saturday.
