Arsenal have been linked with Arbeloa on a number of occasions, with the Gunners badly needing defensive reinforcements at the moment.
The Spaniard is struggling for first team action at Real, which gave Arsene Wenger hope that he might be able to entice him over to London. Having made just 14 starts last season, 31-year-old Arbeloa has become a bit part player for Los Blancos, but that doesn’t seem to be a major concern for the left-back.
“I want to be part of this club for as long as I can. This is home for me,” he told RealMadridTV.
“This is the club of my heart and hopefully I have many years ahead here. I have two left as it stands, but it would be an honour to see out my career with Real Madrid.”
“I know that is a very difficult task because of how highly demanding this club is, but that is not a problem for me.”
“I will always put in the effort and make sacrifices on a daily basis in order to win titles.”
With Arsenal having already been needing to bolster their numbers at the back when the season started, a number of injuries to key players has made their need even greater.
Arbeloa’s versatility and ability to play on either flank would have made him the perfect addition to the Premier League side, and would have added some much needed depth.
