In news that will frustrate and annoy Liverpool fans, Real Madrid could come back in for Uruguayan superstar Luis Suarez, reports CaughtOffside.
The Spanish giants were heavily linked with a move for the 27-year-old last summer, and following his ludicrous season with the Reds, the club’s hierarchy have apparently sanctioned a world-record £90m bid for his services come the end of this campaign.
Liverpool fans had to endure months of speculation before this term started, and following their exceptional season, were hoping their best player would be content to remain at Anfield for the foreseeable future.
The move would break the world transfer record – set by the £85m signing of Gareth Bale from Tottenham on deadline day last August.
Suarez has notched 29 goals in the Premier League, and also leads the assists charts with 12, making him a nailed on certainty this season to win the various Player of the Year awards.
If Madrid were to come in for the South American superstar, his head would undoubtedly be turned. Suarez has made no secret of his desire to one day play for Real Madrid, and the chance to spearhead an attack with Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale either side of him would of course be tempting.
He did sign a bumper new contract with Liverpool in December however, and could well be ending the season with a title winners medal around his neck – meaning the selling club could quite happily refuse to do business regardless of the size of the offer.
