Vidal had been linked with a move to Arsenal earlier this week but boss Arsene Wenger ended his reported interest which has left the door open for other clubs to come in with a bid.
Madrid are understood to have done just that according to Sport, as reported by Football Italia, with the two parties in negotiations over the last few days which have resulted in an agreement on a five-year deal.
The 28-year-old is currently on international duty with Chile in the Copa America and so it is hard to believe that he would be discussing his club future at this stage, while Madrid are now reportedly asking for his fee to be reduced from €30m.
No decision is expected to be made before the end of the Copa America, but Sport claims that Vidal is keen on the move to the Bernabeu and may well be willing to continue discussions after the tournament has concluded.
Should he move on, it could be another huge blow to the Bianconeri who are preparing for Andrea Pirlo to move to MLS next season while Paul Pogba has been linked with a move to Barcelona next summer.
