La Liga runners up are still confident they will sign Tottenham’s wing wizard…
Real Madrid are so confident they will eventually sign Gareth Bale this summer, they have left his favoured no.11 shirt free, reports the Daily Express.
The 24-year-old is reportedly desperate to leave the White Harte Lane club, and has stopped talking to anyone to Spurs. Real Madrid have already submitted a world-record £85m bid for the Bale, but Spurs supremo Daniel Levy wants closer to £100m for the Premier League Player of the Year’s services.
Ex-Chelsea stopper Ricardo Carvalho used to don the no.11, but since he moved to huge spending French side Monaco this summer, the shirt has yet to be replaced. Big money signings Isco and Asier Illarramendi were given the no.23 and 24 shirts, with Los Blancos chairman Florentino Perez still confident their aggressive pursuit of the Welshman will eventually end in success.
Bale is becoming increasingly unnerved by the speculation, and his Portuguese boss Andre Villas-Boas has admitted the club don’t know what is going on in Bale’s head right now.
“His mental state nobody knows because the player doesn’t speak,” claimed the 35-year-old Spurs boss.
Spurs play Premier League new boys Crystal Palace in their opening game of the English season, but Bale is not expected to start. Real Madrid are expected to test Tottenham’s resolve at least once more before the end of the transfer window.
