The Belgian youngster is highly regarded at Old Trafford after a superb first-team breakthrough last season, but has found opportunities harder this season under new manager Louis van Gaal.
The Dutchman has brought in big names such as Angel Di Maria and Radamel Falcao during the summer, limiting playing time for the talented 19-year-old and leading him to consider his future.
Real are now hoping to snap up this outstanding prospect as he seems increasingly unsettled at Old Trafford, with Carlo Ancelotti keen to bring in some big names this January.
