Manchester United transfer news.
Los Blancos are keen to sign a long-term replacement for captain Iker Casillas, who at 33-years-old is in the latter stages of his career and his form has also dropped in recent times.
The Red Devils are also concerned about de Gea’s contract, with his current deal expiring in 18 months time and at the moment nothing new has been signed.
Manager Louis van Gaal says he is confident the 24-year-old will commit his future to United and there are reports the club are prepared to double his wages to £140,000-a-week.
However, a return to Madrid and the chance to be the No.1 at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu is sure to be tempting for de Gea and the Spanish giants have already approached the ‘keeper’s representatives.
The future of the Spaniard at Old Trafford was plunged into further doubt on Thursday when Man United completed the free transfer of his fellow countryman Victor Valdes.
