This CaughtOffside exclusive claims that Madrid are preparing the groundwork ahead of a double raid next summer, as Bernabeu president Florentino Perez looks to usher in additions that continue the club’s latest raft of Galatico signings.
The La Liga giants are preparing an opening offer of €120m (£96m) for the two attacking minded midfield players, who have both played a key role in Chelsea’s success in recent seasons.
Both players are extremely popular at Stamford Bridge, and manager Jose Mourinho will not let either depart without putting up a huge fight. But as we saw in the summer, the Blues are not adverse to selling big-name players at the right price and reinvesting the money elsewhere.
The source adds that Perez is keen to plan for future, and sees 23-year-old wide-man Hazard as an ideal replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo, with the Portuguese international strongly linked with a possible return to Manchester United.
Madrid also lost Angel di Maria last month, a player that they have admitted that they would rather have kept, meaning that there could be space in the squad to accommodate both Hazard and Brazilian star Oscar, also 23.
Hazard finished last season as Chelsea’s leading assist maker and top goal-scorer and is a player who has also interested PSG, despite being criticised by his manager for his poor work ethic, following their Champions League semi-final defeat against Atletico Madrid last season.
Oscar is a fixture in the Brazilian national team set-up, with 40 caps to his name. The cultured midfielder is a player Carlo Ancelotti knows well, while he fits in well to Perez’s long term vision for Real Madrid.
