Speaking about the transfers made by Real during the summer, Perez admitted that Toni Kroos was brought in from Bayern Munich due to Khedira’s contract situation and likely exit, which may now happen this January.
The Spaniard said: “Di Maria left because he wanted to go. Xabi spent ages pondering over his future, he’s 33 years old and it’s difficult to retire at Real Madrid. Other better offers emerged. Raul did something similar and we had no problem with that. Kroos came in as Khedira didn’t want to renew.”
Khedira has also been linked with Manchester United, Bayern Munich and a number of other top clubs after repeatedly snubbing a new contract at the Bernabeu.
