Spanish giants rule themselves out of Suarez race…
Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has assured fans that his club won’t be signing anyone in January, following the world-record £85m Gareth Bale move, reports the Daily Mail.
This means that Liverpool striker Luis Suarez will likely stay at Anfield until the end of the season at least, meaning Reds fans will no doubt be breathing a collective sigh of relief.
“We will not be signing anyone in January,” Perez told club members at the Real Madrid annual general meeting this weekend.
The La Liga title hopefuls want to give young Spanish striker Alvaro Morata a proper chance, and will ease him into the first-team slowly this season as backup to Frenchman Karim Benzema.
Suarez has now finished the ten match suspension he picked up for biting Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic last season, ad he could make his comeback against Manchester United in the League Cup midweek.
Liverpool’s promising start to the season came to an abrupt halt yesterday in a drab 1-0 home defeat to Southampton, and the Uruguayan’s return couldn’t come any sooner – especially after losing Coutinho to an unfortunate injury in the 2-2 drawn with Swansea.
