Bernabeu boss Carlo Ancelotti is willing to sacrifice the Portugal full-back to land Spurs’ Welsh winger.
Real Madrid are ready to tempt Tottenham into selling Gareth Bale by offering them full-back Fabio Coentrao, Metro are reporting.
Rumours are gathering in Spain that Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti is growing increasingly confident that he can persuade the Premier League club to part with their prized asset this summer and is now ready to increase the stakes to land the Welsh winger.
The Italian coach will include Portugal international Coentrao, who can count Spurs among his admirers, in a money-plus-player package that he hopes will prove too irresistible for north London to reject and open the door for Bale to move to the Bernabeu.
It’s thought the two clubs have already entered into discussions regarding the 24-year-old star with the La Liga giants prepared to fork out £85 million to bring him to the Spanish capital, although nothing formal has been agreed as of yet.
That being said Ancelotti will have to step up his pre-season clear-out if he is to fund a move for Bale and could rake in £46m from the sale of Gonzalo Higuain, Raul Albiol and Jose Callejon to Napoli.
Meanwhile, Andre Villas-Boas remained guarded when cross-examined on the future of last seasons 26-goal top-scorer.
“He is a player that we are willing to continue to have, he’s a Tottenham player, he’s one of the most fantastic players in the world at the moment,” Villas-Boas said.
“I can’t make any more comments. I don’t want to repeat myself in all press conferences.”
