European champions still hopeful of landing Blues youngster.
La Liga powerhouse Real Madrid are still retaining a long term hope to sign Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, according to Spanish newspaper El Conficdencial.
The Belgian international spent the past three season on loan with cross-city rivals Atletico, but has now returned to Chelsea where he will challenge Petr Cech for a starting spot.
However, the news comes just a day after Real completed the signing of Costa Rican shot stopper Keylor Navas from fellow La Liga side Levante.
Real now have three top goalies on their books (Navas, Iker Casillas and Diego Lopez), and the consensus opinion is that the Madridistas need to offload one of their goalies before the season starts.
The report claims that Casillas is the one most likely to be jettisoned, with Courtois said to be lined up as his replacement as early as next summer.
However, interestingly, El Confidencial also claim that the three clubs chasing Casillas’ signature are Napoli, Monaco and Chelsea!
Courtois has already made an impression since returning to west London, having made a top quality save during the club’s pre-season encounter with German giants Werder Bremen.
However, he could not stop the club from slumping to a defeat.
