The current European champions are to head to Anfield on Wednesday for a game that has now become crucial to the Reds as they fight for their place in the group.
Brendan Rodgers side were beaten 1-0 away in Basel after their win over Ludogorets in the opening Group B match.
Madrid won their last game 5-1 against Swiss champions Basle, but left Bale out of this weekend’s game against Levante as a precaution.
But it has now appeared that the Welsh international will miss both the clash with Liverpool as well as this weekend’s El Classico against Barcelona, too.
Carlo Ancelotti said after his side’s weekend victory: “Bale had a problem with his gluteus and we preferred not to risk him. It was to avoid taking risks, it wasn’t player rotation.”
