Los Blancos want Wales international at the Santiago Bernabeu this summer.
La Liga giants Real Madrid are hopeful of persuading Tottenham Hotspur to part company with flying forward Gareth Bale at the end of the season by offering the North London club some of their players in part exchange for the Welshman, says the Daily Mirror.
It is an open secret in the world of football that Los Blancos are desperate to get their hands on Tottenham’s star performer and one of the favourites to win this season’s Professional Footballers’ Association Player of the Year award.
However, the La Liga champions also recognise that they have a major fight on their hands to lure the Wales international to the Santiago Bernabeu this summer, and that is why Madrid president Florentino Perez is believed to be prepared to offer either Angel Di Maria or Gonzalo Higuain as part of any potential deal for Bale.
Winger Di Maria has seven goals and 18 assists to his name in the Spanish capital this season and is considered to be one of world football’s most creative and exciting wide midfield players.
Meanwhile, fellow Argentina international Higuain, valued at £30 million by the Spaniards, has netted 16 goals for Madrid so far this campaign and is one of European football’s most coveted attackers.
But, whether either player would be enough to persuade Spurs to allow their most precious commodity to depart White Hart Lane this summer is doubtful.
