Real Madrid fans want to sign Tottenham Hotspur flyer Gareth Bale over any other player in world football, according to a poll of 200,000 people in Spanish publication Marca.
Real Madrid are closing in on a deal for Tottenham Hotspur attacking midfielder Gareth Bale, according to reports in both England and Spain.
The Daily Mirror claims that the Spanish club have tasked legendary Galactico Zinedine Zidane with luring Bale to Estadio Santiago Bernabeu.
“I’ve been watching Tottenham because Gareth Bale has been playing there,” said Zizou.
“Aside from Ronaldo and Messi, he is the player who has impressed me the most in the world. He is outstanding.
“Is he good enough for Real Madrid? Of course. He is more than good enough to play for Real Madrid.”
In addition, a poll of close to 200,000 fans by Madrid sports paper Marca found that Bale was the most coveted player in the world amongst supporters, securing 64.5% of the total vote and comfortably beating Edinson Cavani and Sergio Aguero in second and third place respectively.
The Wales international is increasingly coveted in the Spanish capital, with the signing of Neymar by FC Barcelona sending out a clear message to Real Madrid president Florentino Perez that he needs to reinforce the team.
Bale could be about to become the second most expensive player in history, behind Real Madrid’s current star Cristiano Ronaldo.
Marca also report that Spurs are demanding 90m Euros for their star man, meaning only Cristiano Ronaldo has ever cost more to move clubs.
