Madrid contact players’ agent in bid to capture the Uruguayan this summer.
Real Madrid have stepped up their interest in signing Liverpool striker Luis Suarez, after making contact with the Uruguayan’s agent over a £40m bid.
The Spanish club are looking to bolster their attacking options and, whilst Edison Cavani remains their top target, Suarez will be a considerably cheaper option, and this bid will certainly test Liverpool’s resolve to keep the troublesome but talented star.
The Sun reports that discussions have taken place between Real and Suarez over a deal, with Los Blancos hoping that the lure of Champions League football will be enough to persuade the striker to leave Anfield.
In a statement released by Liverpool, however, the club insisted: “We will not sell Luis Suarez.
“Brendan Rodgers has said this on several occasions and the club will not entertain any bids be it Real Madrid or anyone else.
“Luis is one of the world’s best players and is not for sale.”
While the club may be unwilling to sell the the 25-year old due to his importance to the team next season, a bid in this range of money may be too good to turn down, as Brendan Rodgers can use that money to continue to rebuild the team into European contenders.
