Los Blancos want Vidal to become a galatico.
As Manchester United look towards Real Madrid’s Luka Modric as a midfield possibility there may be hope as the Spanish giants prepare an audacious £43m bid for Arturo Vidal of Juventus, according to ITV Sport.
It’s known that Barcelona star Cesc Fabregas is new United manager David Moyes’ first choice as a recruitment in the centre of the park, but if that deal fails the Scot may look to Modric instead.
The Croatian has only been at the Santiago Bernabeu for 12 months following a £26.4m move from Tottenham Hotspur last summer, but has failed to truly establish himself in the Spanish capital.
The arrival of Real Sociedad starlet Asier Illarramendi has not helped Modric’s cause in central midfield, but the signing of Vidal would surely signal the end of the 27-year-old’s time at Madrid – as opportunities for the former Spurs ace would be so limited.
The Chilean has come onto Los Blancos’ radar following two impressive years with Juve since an £11m transfer from Bayer Leverkusen in 2011.
Vidal has helped La Bianconeri to successive Serie A titles successes, playing 80 matches for the Italian champions in all competitions, scoring 20 goals and providing 16 assists.
The 26-year-old is a box-to-box midfielder who is equally adept in attacking midfield as he is in a more defensive role, therefore making the Chile international a direct challenger for Modric’s place.
If the deal were to go through it would certainly send a clear message to the Croatian, although United would have to decide quickly whether they wanted the midfielder as there are bound to be several suitors.
