Madrid’s Argentinian midfielder could be tempted by a move to the Premier League or Serie A.
Premier League and Serie A champions Manchester United and Juventus are preparing to bid for Real Madrid winger Angel Di Maria with the aim to improve their Champions League credentials, reports Spanish football website fichajes.net.
United are likely to sell Portuguese Nani this summer and see Di Maria as the perfect candidate to fill the void left by the winger.
New manager David Moyes will be given a healthy transfer budget to prepare for his first season at Old Trafford and the Argentinian could be the big name buy that would please Red Devils’ fans.
Moyes will be hoping to improve United’s fortunes in the Champions League next season as well, after a last-16 exit to Di Maria’s club in 2012/13.
However, the Scot will face a tough battle with Italian champions Juve to secure the signature of the winger.
Bianconeri manager Antonio Conte wants to see his side become more of a force in the top European competition as well, after being unceremoniously dumped out in the quarter finals by Bayern Munich this year.
Di Maria is a realistic prospect for Conte and Moyes, as the Argentinian has managed just 11 goals and 10 assists in 52 games for Madrid this season and the club would therefore probably listen to offers for the 25-year-old.
However, the Argentina international arrived at the Santiago Bernabeu just three years ago for the hefty sum of £29million and it’s likely Los Blancos would want to make a significant chunk of that money back.
