Goalkeeper & Defence: Manuel Neuer, Danilo da Silva, Marcelo, Inigo Martinez, Sergio Ramos
With Iker Casillas’ dramatic drop in form in recent times, it would not be surprising to see Real Madrid target a new world class goalkeeper for next season. One name that could be among their top targets is Bayern Munich and Germany shot-stopper Manuel Neuer. The 28-year-old has been one of the best keepers in the Bundesliga for the last few years, impressing first with Schalke and then with Bayern, and there are few other better qualified to fill the gloves of the legendary Casillas.
Elsewhere, with Daniel Carvajal and Alvaro Arbeloa struggling to impress Carlo Ancelotti this season, young Brazilian right-back Danilo from Porto is believed to be a top target for the Spanish giants. Real Sociedad’s Inigo Martinez has also been one of the most impressive young defenders in La Liga in recent times and could be brought in as an extra option at centre-back, with hot-head Pepe and injury-prone Raphael Varane leaving some potential to be improved on.
