Former United star is looking forward to next week’s big match.
Paris Saint-German midfield player David Beckham believes that Real Madrid playmaker Cristiano Ronaldo will be the man to watch in next week’s Champions League clash with Manchester United at Old Trafford, reports the Daily Mail.
The Portugal international will be making his first-ever return to the Red Devils since he left the club in 2009 to join the Liga giants, and the former England captain, who Ronaldo himself replaced at United in 2003, has warned his one-time team-mates to keep a close eye on the Madrid star.
“When you go back, you enjoy the occasion, of course, and I am sure it will inspire Cristiano,” Beckham told Canal Plus show Grande Journal.
“Many things inspire great players and him going back will be a special night for him. The fans love him and it will be a great occasion.”
Meanwhile, the veteran winger also revealed that one of the reasons the Ligue 1 leaders signed him during the recent January transfer window was to sell shirts: “If I can help to sell lots of shirts, no problem,’ said Beckham. ‘It’s great to see so many people wearing my shirt.
“In most of the clubs where I’ve been, I heard the same thing, that I’ve come to sell shirts.”
