Real Madrid set to offer £10m plus Higuain for Suarez.
After months of speculation, Real Madrid are set to make their first bid for Liverpool striker Luis Suarez, and will offer £10m plus Gonzalo Higuain, according The Daily Mirror.
In what has become this summer’s ongoing transfer saga, another alternative option for Luis Suarez’s future has emerged.
Real Madrid could offer Higuain, who they rate at around £25m, plus a £10m incentive for Liverpool’s 30-goal Uruguayan – bringing the deal to £35m.
Arsenal fans will be devastated if they miss out on their two top targets Higuain and Suarez, who ironically, could swap clubs, leaving Liverpool and Real Madrid with top notch replacements; but Arsenal – with nothing.
Liverpool though, reportedly have no interest in Gonzalo Higuain, who can only play through the middle, and they already have Englishman Daniel Sturridge in that position. They are expected to reject the bid immediately, and will wait until a side meets his £40m release clause or the player himself hands in a transfer request.
Luis Suarez is clearly desperate to leave the club, and seems willing to join any side playing Champions League football, which contradicts a statement from earlier in the summer where he stated his desire to leave England.
Although Liverpool would prefer to keep their star striker, it is unlikely they will keep him at the club if he continues to make so much noise in the media. The Reds want a straight cash deal so they can sign a top-quality creative player rather than a centre-forward in the Higuain mould.
Suarez played this role fantastically in the second half of the season, playing in a deeper role than Daniel Sturridge. It did not detract from his goal tally however, and Liverpool’s form would have seen them finish in the top four had the season started in January.
Brendan Rodgers is reportedly targeting one of Christian Eriksen, Bernard or Xherdan Shaqiri for this position, if Real Madrid do eventually meet the required £40m fee.
