The RSL defender will miss the club’s next two games for reckless foul.
Chris Wingert has had his one-match ban extended to two by the MLS disciplinary committee after his first yellow card received against Sporting Kansas City was deemed to be dangerous in retrospect.
Wingert eventually received a red card following a second yellow, but retrospective action was deemed necessary after reviewing his first yellow card. The defender flew in dangerously on Sporting Kansas City forward Kei Kamara making what appears to be little effort to play the ball.
As a result, Wingert will now miss RSL’s MLS games at New York Red Bulls on August 3rd and Colorado Rapids on August 10th. Wingert will still be available for RSL’s Lamar Hunt US Open Cup Semifinal match against the Portland Timbers on August 7th.
