From a League Two minnow to Old Trafford, Regan Poole has made a massive move up in the football ranks.
While £36 million-man Anthony Martial got the headlines for being the most expensive teenager, Man United made a late splash in the transfer market for young stud Regan Poole.
According to Sky Sports, Man United have signed the 17-year-old defensive stud from League 2’s Newport County. The news comes hours after it was revealed that the Red Devils had finalized a deal for Monaco striker Anthony Martial that made him the most expensive teenage transfer in football history.
Regan Poole has made 14 appearances for the League Two side since 2014 and has 4 caps for the Wales Under-17 side as well.
The Red Devils struggled on defense last week in a loss against against Swansea City and have been looking for solid options to develop.
Man United have a particularly easy Group Stage in the Champions League with PSV Eindhoven, CSKA Moscow and VfL Wolfsburg all on the slate, which could be just the opportunity Poole needs to get experience at the highest level.
