The Cleveland Browns are still in contention for a playoff spot in the AFC as they hold a 7-5 record. While starting quarterback Brian Hoyer has shown flashes of brilliance, he has struggled recently.
Hoyer threw two interceptions in the most recent loss to the Buffalo Bills, and he was replaced by backup Johnny Manziel in the fourth quarter.
Manziel scored his first career touchdown, so he was expected to possibly take over. However, head coach Mike Pettine decided to stick with Hoyer and will do so as long as the Browns are in the playoffs.
The Browns are reportedly going to move on with Manziel as their quarterback beyond this season and let Hoyer go though.
Here is a tweet from ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter reporting on the Browns’ quarterback situation.
