Despite being drafted in 2010, Cowboys WR Dez Bryant got to see 2011 draft pick Tyron Smith get a lucrative contract before him. Bryant was tied for third in receiving TDs in 2013.
The Dallas Cowboys are reportedly closing in on a deal to give a contract extension to Pro Bowl WR Dez Bryant, who had 13 receiving TDs and 1,233 receiving yards in 2013.
Bryant has been angling for a new contract since the start of the 2013 season but has reiterated on numerous occasions that he does not plan to continue contract negotiations once the 2014 regular season begins.
“I deserve it. I feel like I do,” Bryant said in minicamp . “I put the work in, but I let that kind of stuff take care of itself. It is what it is. I let my agent talk about it and give me some feedback.”
Since 2012, Bryant has 25 receiving TDs, tied with Saints TE Jimmy Graham for the most in the last two years. He also has 185 receptions (7th in the league) and 2,615 receiving yards (6th).
The Cowboys gave a lucrative contract extension to Pro Bowl OT Tyron Smith just last month, making him the league’s highest paid offensive lineman. Bryant’s contract could come out to over $100 million.
