Baltimore Ravens secondary coach Steve Spagnuolo will be returning to his old job as defensive coordinator for the New York Giants.
Spagnuolo had previously served as the Giants’ defensive coordinator from 2007-08, and he led the 2007 Giants to the biggest upset in Super Bowl history when they defeated the New England Patriots, who had finished the regular season with a 16-0 record.
After two years with the Giants, Spagnuolo spent three years as the head coach for the St. Louis Rams. He went to Baltimore after an unsuccessful stint as the Rams head coach and as defensive coordinator for the New Orleans Saints.
The Giants have struggled defensively since it helped the team win the Super Bowl in 2011, and Perry Fewell was fired after the 2014 season as the Giants finished 29th in total defense and 22nd in scoring defense.
Spagnuolo will look to guide the Giants back to the playoffs and rejuvenate their defense.
