After weeks of near-certainty that former Buffalo Bills head coach Chan Gailey would join the New York Jets as offensive coordinator, it may no longer be the case.
On Sunday it was first reported by CBS reporter Jason La Canfora that Gailey might not be the “slam dunk” that he was made out to be last week.
Jets finalizing Cardinals LB coach Mike Caldwell as an assistant head coach. Sounds like Chan Gailey might not be a slam dunk as their OC

La Canfora reported on Monday that the Jets have apparently been losing interest in Gailey and have actually been looking into other options to fill the vacant offensive coordinator position.
As reported yesterday, Jets started cooling on Gailey last week and began doing legwork and reaching out to other potential OC candidates

Gailey is considered a great mentor for QBs, coaching such underachievers and journeymen as Kordell Stewart, Jay Fiedler and Ryan Fitzpatrick to the best seasons of their careers.
The Jets have been looking to hire an offensive coaching staff since firing head coach Rex Ryan – who took most of the Jets coaching staff with him to Buffalo when he was hired by the Bills last week.
