New York Jets owner Woody Johnson has spent his Monday cleaning house by firing head coach Rex Ryan and general manager John Idzik.
However, the Jets’ problems will not be disappearing right away. Johnson may be in hot water after committing a tampering violation in a press conference.
When discussing the firings of Ryan and Idzik, Johnson went out of his way to say that he would like to bring back All-Pro cornerback Darrelle Revis, who is currently with the New England Patriots.
Revis is locked in a two-year contract with the Patriots, and NFL rules say that you cannot lobby for players to join a team in a media session.
It remains to be seen whether the Patriots will file tampering charges against the Jets. Pro Football Talk reported the Jets’ tampering violation on Twitter.
