QB Geno Smith will be the New York Jets new starter for the December 1st Monday Night Football game against the Miami Dolphins.
After meeting with both Smith and struggling starter Michael Vick, head coach Rex Ryan told his two QBs that Smith would be given the start.
Smith is currently 1-7 as the Jets starter this season, with 7 TDs and 10 INTs on the season. He was benched in Week 8 against the Buffalo Bills after throwing 3 INTs in the first quarter, while completing only two passes. Vick replaced him as a starter for the next three games but went 1-2 and struggled in the Week 12 game against Buffalo.
The last time Smith started a Monday Night football game, he began it by throwing a pick-6 against the Chicago Bears.
As a rookie in 2013, Smith went 8-8 as a starter, although he was benched in a few losses for poor play, and set Jets rookie records for passing yards, completions and attempts as well as leading the team in rushing TDs with 6.
