Osi Umenyiora looks to have agreed a deal with the Falcons that will be announced shortly, after visiting the team last week.
The defensive end has been a a free agent this off-season, having elected not to re-sign with the New York Giants, with whom he won two Super Bowl rings.
The 30-year old has expressed his desire to move to Atlanta, with one source close to Umenyiora saying “Atlanta is the place.”
The Falcons have already upgraded the only weakness in their offence, with the signing of elite running back Steven Jackson. If they were to sign the London-born pass rusher, then their Super Bowl credentials will reach an all-time high.
General manager Thomas Dimitroff must still work hard in the draft, as he must add talent at linebacker and cornerback. If he can perform as well in the draft as he has done in free agency, the route to the Super Bowl will once again have to go through the Georgia Dome.
