The San Diego Chargers have waived wide receiver Vincent Brown as they are narrowing down their roster to 53 players.
The San Diego Chargers have waived wide receiver Vincent Brown after three seasons with him on the team. He was drafted in the third round of the 2011 draft out of San Diego State.
Brown became somewhat involved in the Chargers offense in his rookie season, which led many pundits to label him as a breakout candidate heading into the 2012 season. However, Brown sustained an ankle injury that kept him out for the entire season.
The receiver was able to put together a respectable performance in 2013 with career highs of 41 receptions and 472 yards, but the emergence of Keenan Allen and confidence in other receivers convinced general manager Tom Telesco to move on without Brown.
Here is a tweet from NFL Access reporting on Brown’s release from the Chargers.
