Tennessee Titans head coach Ken Whisenhunt says rookie Zach Mettenberger is his starting QB, and that’s not about to change.
“We’re going with Zach and we’re going to stay with Zach,” Whisenhunt said today.
The injury-prone Jake Locker, who has missed three of the last four games, is expected to be healthy enough to play on Sunday against the Texans but has been demoted to second string. Charlie Whitehurst, who has started the games Locker missed, is now No. 3 on the depth chart.
Mettenberger was drafted by the Titans in the 6th round of the 2014 NFL draft. He was a star at LSU and led the team to 20 wins as a starter in two seasons, including a win in the 2013 Outback Bowl.
Locker was the No. 8 overall pick in the 2011 NFL draft but has struggled to see the field due to inexperience and injuries. He has played in only 27 games in a four year career and is 9-13 as a starter.
