Two teams have emerged as the finalists to hire Arizona Cardinals defensive coordinator Todd Bowles to become their new head coach.
According to ProFootballTalk.com, the New York Jets and Atlanta Falcons have made Bowles one of their final candidates for the job.
One anonymous source from PFT described Bowles as “very likely” to become the next coach of the Jets. But another stated Bowles prefers the Falcons – and that the Jets prefer Seahawks defensive coordinator Dan Quinn. The Jets may have to wait nearly three weeks before hiring Quinn if he takes the team to the Superbowl, but Bowles is available now.
The Chicago Bears had shown interest in Bowles, but the availability of former Broncos head coach John Fox has changed their priorities.
Bowles, who has served for two years as defensive coordinator of the Cardinals, has received head-coaching consideration in the past. He served as the interim head coach of the Dolphins in 2011.
