The Argentine flyer had a tremendous campaign for the Giallorossi last season, scoring 15 times and supplying 5 assists in his 33 Serie A matches, and at the age of 21 he could very well develop into one of the best players in his position in world football.
Lamela’s figures illustrate a clear direct threat to the opposition goal, but what the statistics do not reveal is a player who is one of the most natural dribblers in the game.
Indeed, the Roma star had a higher success rate taking on opponents than famed technicians Luis Suarez and Marco Reus last season, and the third most dribbles per game in Serie A.
Lamela also made the 20th most key passes in the Italian top flight, and his development over the last few seasons will surely result in him adding to his two caps for Argentina.
Should a Spurs transfer materialise, the north London club may well have sporting director Franco Baldini to thank, as he was previously general manager at AS Roma.
However, Tottenham fans would naturally view any prospective deal for Lamela with some trepidation given the furore over the future of star man Gareth Bale.
