San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator Vic Fangio was released from his job shortly after Jim Harbaugh and the 49ers mutually parted ways.
Defensive line coach Jim Tomsula was hired as the head coach, and Fangio is still looking for work. He had served as the 49ers defensive coordinator in each of Harbaugh’s four seasons with the team.
The 49ers ranked in the top five defensively every year Fangio and Harbaugh were there, and he will interview with the Washington Redskins since they fired Jim Haslett.
The Redskins have talent with players such as outside linebackers Brian Orakpo and Ryan Kerrigan, so Fangio may be just what the Redskins need to put it all together on defense.
The team already made a splash by hiring Bill Callahan as their offensive line coach after he worked wonders with the Dallas Cowboys.
