Lisandro Lopez leaves Lyon for Al-Gharafa, citing personal reasons.
Former Tottenham target Lisandro Lopez has signed for Qatari club Al-Gharafa from Lyon.
Al-Gharafa announced the deal on their official website, confirming the 30-year-old Argentine will join subject to passing a medical.
In an official announcement, Lyon said they had allowed the striker to leave for ‘personal reasons’, citing his ‘professionalism’ and ‘everything he has done for the club’ since arriving from Porto in 2009.
Spurs reportedly bid for Lopez in January and the Daily Mirror claimed last month that the North London were still keen on a deal for the versatile forward, who bagged 11 league goals in 31 appearances in Ligue 1 last term.
Lyon could now find themselves with a striker shortage ahead of the new season, with various reports suggesting French forward Bafetimbi Gomis is closing in on a move to Newcastle United.
