Chelsea owned keeper Thibaut Courtois is desperate to leave Stamford Bridge this summer and be allowed to join La Liga giants Barcelona, claims Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo.
The 22-year-old Belgian international will be starting at this summer’s World Cup for his country, following another outstanding season on loan at Atletico Madrid.
Courtois is contracted until 2016, but has apparently grown tired of being consistently loaned out by Chelsea, who still haven’t given him any direct assurances over his future at the club.
As a result, the reports claim Courtois is “desperate” to leave and join the Catalan giants, who have said their goodbyes to stalwart departing goalkeeper Victor Valdes, and are also letting Pinto leave the club, too.
Barcelona have also already completed a deal for young German stopper Marc-André ter Stegen though, so it could be that the Catalan giants will test Courtois against ter Stegen, in order to guarantee themselves at least one world-class no.1.
Alternatively, Courtois could still sign a new bumper new deal with Blues, and oust Petr Cech as the first-choice Chelsea stopper for 2014/15.
