Telephone conversations with Jose Mourinho and Cesc Fabregas persuaded Barcelona winger Pedro to join Chelsea, according to reports.
The Spanish international looked destined to join Manchester United this summer, but the Premier League champions made a late swoop on the 28-year-old and it is expected he will officially become a Chelsea player in the next 24 hours.
According to The Guardian, Fabregas ‘offered assurances’ over life at Chelsea, while Mourinho explained to Pedro how exactly the winger will fit into his first team plans.
Pedro only recently signed a deal to remain at the Camp Nou until 2019. however, it is believed he had grown frustrated with his bit-part role under Luis Enrique.
He played second fiddle to the all-conquering front three of Lionel Messi, Neymar and Luis Suarez last season, but showed his quality after scoring 11 goals in just 15 starts.
Mourinho will be hoping Pedro can bring his goalscoring exploits to Stamford Bridge this season, with the Blues enduring its worst start to the season since 1998.
