Mario Balotelli has said his farewells to Liverpool as he nears his imminent return to AC Milan.
The striker was in Italy yesterday to undergo a medical and finalise terms for a season-long loan move.
The Italian scored just one Premier League goal last season after his £16m move from Milan. While he did not leave his mark on Anfield, Anfield appears to have left its mark on him.
“I’m grateful to Liverpool FC and Liverpool fans for the time and opportunities you gave me,” he wrote on his official Facebook page.
“It’s not a goodbye but rather a farewell. I’ll be supporting you guys all the way in every competition… unless you face AC Milan.”
Balotelli scored 26 goals in 46 games during his first spell at Milan – arguably the best form of his career – but the Rossoneri are still inserting a ‘good behaviour’ clause in his contract.
Reports suggest that Milan chief executive Adriano Galliani has insisted on the clause, which is rumoured to ban any extravagant hairstyles or clothing and careless social media use.
